FOOD 4 FUTURE will make Euskadi the world benchmark in the FoodTech industry

Food 4 Future – ExpoFoodTech 2021 plans to bring together 5,000 professionals from the food and beverage sector, from more than 20 countries, between June 15 and 17 at the BEC-Bilbao Exhibition Center. “Food 4 Future is an event designed from and for the industry, with the support of more than 170 business organizations from different countries, with the aim of helping the food industry to face the challenges that it will have to face in the next decade to develop a healthier diet for a growing population ”.

Food 4 Future, organized by NEBEXT and AZTI, will also have representation from more than 200 exhibiting firms that will be presenting their most innovative solutions, equipment, technology and projects; together with 280 international experts in biotechnology, food science and safety, digitization, Blockchain, Artificial Intelligence, Automation and Robotics.

I-Tokio University of Japan, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Ameztoi Anaiak, Campofrío, Bonduelle, Coca-Cola, Angulas Aguinaga or Danone will present their industrial transformation projects in Bilbao.

During three days, about 300 international speakers and more than 56 conferences will expose the keys to face the current challenges of the food industry. An agenda that will revolve around 3 main themes: digitization, sustainability and healthy eating.

Today we wanted to talk to you especially about our meatballs with tomato, a very versatile dish that everyone likes. It is also a dish that is delicious but the best thing is that you can make multiple quick recipes with it.

1.PASTA A LA BOLOGNESA WITH THE
MEATBALLS WITH AMEZTOI TOMATO

INGREDIENTS:

  • Pasta
  • Ameztoi tomato meatballs

PREPARATION

Cook the pasta that we like the most: fusilli, penne, spaghetti, tagliatelle … in a saucepan with boiling water, a drizzle of oil and salt. On the other hand, we heat the meatballs with tomato in the microwave or in a saucepan and cut the meatballs into small pieces. Once the pasta is done, we plate it and mix it with the pieces of meatballs and the delicious tomato sauce.

READY MEALS CONSUMPTION

Sales of dishes prepared for consumption at home have grown by 8.7%, reaching 643,990 tons, according to Nielsen data collected by the Spanish Association of Manufacturers of Prepared Dishes (Asefapre). Specifically, the consumption of ready-to-eat dishes at home reaches 16.94 kg per capita.

MOST CONSUMED PRODUCTS
In general, pizza, croquettes, rice and pasta are the most popular products.

Also noteworthy are the growth obtained by dishes prepared with a fish / seafood base (13,254 tons sold, with a growth of 21%) and those with a meat base (20,380 tons and a growth of 17.4%).

By category, potato-based dishes are the most demanded in the frozen category (69,842 tons and a growth of 10%); while legume-based dishes occupy the first place in the category of ambient prepared dishes (19,608 tons and a growth of 12.7%).

Refrigerated ready meals maintain a 47.5% share, followed by frozen (39.5%) and room temperature (13%).
